Sunday Service

  • Center for the Enlightenment Arts 301 Ten Eyck Street Brooklyn, NY, 11206 United States (map)

The Sunday Service is a new paradigm in spiritual practice. This is a chance to come together and be each other's healers, guides and friends on the path from mutual empowerment to group enlightenment.

We want to move away from the modern exchange model of spirituality in which you pay a teacher or facilitator and they lead you. Here, we’re all doing the work together, fueled by donations and in recognition of the power of community, movement, sharing and connection.

I know this is a full day commitment and you may only have part of the day free. If you’re only able to come for part of the service, that’s okay. We just ask that you stay for the entire section once we’ve begun.

10:30-11:30a

We’ll begin the day at 1030am gathering for an hour of ecstatic dance. This session will be led by Nina Chausow an embodied dance instructor. This open space for intuitive movement will allow us to move from our heads into our bodies. Our physical forms store so much, but we often don't allow for their complete expression. We’ll be invited to move into all of our aspects- the rage, the desire, the ecstasy, the gratitude of being in a body and the sadness and grief that we can never speak words into.

1145-1230p

We’ll then share in a potluck style brunch, fueling the body and sharing in community. We don't have too much in the space- just a hot water heater and microwave. If you’re able to bring things like coffee makers or hot pots, that would be fabulous. Any any and all contributions are welcome!

1230-2:00p

Next, we will drop deeper into connection by engaging in the practice of Authentic Relating. Led by AR faciliator Racheli Yardeni we will slow down, come back into the present moment, and sink into being. In a world that tends to glorify doing rather than being, this practice allows us to welcome ourselves and each other in our wholeness, and gain tools to deeply connect with ourselves and others by practicing deep listening, reflecting, and sharing impact. We will be invited to increase our powers of awareness and presence, and play inside of a nourishing space of connection.

2:00-4:00p

Lastly, we will come back together for two hours of meditation- involving breath, vocal toning and sound. This session will be led by William Berk (https://www.instagram.com/williamberkmd/) Meditation will be ecstatic after we’ve just moved from our heads to our bodies in dance, nourished each other and dropped deeply into connection and presence. With these elements deeply felt we can reframe the meditative process, not as MY individual process, but as OUR collaborative path to the heart open and connected future we want for this world. Supporting one another with love, connection and community. That’s where we find our real strength!

This session, and all future Sunday Service sessions will be 100% donation based. $80 is the requested donation to cover materials and space rental, but anyone can join at any donation- even a few dollars. We never want anyone to be limited from meditation or spiritual practice and NO ONE will be turned away or judged based on their donation!!
